Soil & Sustenance Fund
Investing in Farmers. Feeding Communities. Healing Ecosystems.
In 2025, our CSA pilot program raised $15,000, which supported 100 scholarships towards CSAs and direct investments into farmers’ pockets. We are looking for help to expand this impact and scale the program in 2026, with our goal to support 200 scholarships. It’s time for the outdoor community to support more families having beautiful food to cook, a sense of belonging to the land, and relationships with the farmers they support. We’d love for you to donate below or consider applying for support—applications open Spring 2026!

Who does the Soil & Sustenance Fund support?
This year, our goal is to provide 200 low-income households in Montana’s Gallatin Valley and in the California Sierras and Northeast and Southeast regions with a subsidy on a local CSA seasonal share, paid directly to our regenerative partner farms. The Program reduces financial strain and the trade-offs that low-income households often make between healthy food and other essential needs. For farmers, the Program reduces their financial risk and provides a steady revenue stream that helps cover the costs of seeds, labor, and equipment, as well as innovative and experimental regenerative practices.
Applications open in Spring 2026
Our Five Target Outcomes
-
Provide direct support to sustainable farmers that protect the environment, reduce food miles, and contribute to the health and well-being of our planet.
-
Support farmers that adhere to our Regenerative Agriculture Core Principles.
-
Create a CSA subsidy program that demonstrates effective resource allocation to regenerative farms that support environmentally friendly practices and promote biodiversity.
-
Provide accessible, affordable, and nutritious food options to individuals and families.
-
Create strong, direct relationships between farmers and consumers, fostering a sense of shared responsibility and collaboration in building a sustainable food future.
CSA sign-ups start the farming season, typically in February, and provide small farms with vital funds for seeds, supplies, infrastructure, and staffing. Without this support, farms often rely on loans until summer harvests.
By choosing to support these diverse, small-scale farms we are strengthening the local economy and fostering a resilient food system for all.
